Betor, Ancestors Voice Mk II
Betor, Ancestor's Voice Commander Deck
Betor rewards both gaining and losing life each turn. Lifelink, Soul Warden-style triggers and lifegain doublers feed its end-step counters. Meanwhile, self-inflicted life loss from painlands, talismans, card-draw costs and removal drawbacks sets the mana value cap for Betor's reanimation. The deck turns incidental lifegain into +1/+1 counters, which counter doublers and lifegain-payoff creatures snowball into a huge board, while the life-loss half recurs creatures every end step. How it wins: It converts lifegain into direct drain on every opponent or into enormous counter-pumped evasive and trampling attackers, closing with drain engines, mass-counter swings and Debt to the Deathless. Key roles: - Lifegain engines: cheap creature-entry triggers, lifelinkers and lifegain doublers generate multiple life-gain events each turn, the fuel for Betor and every payoff (Soul Warden, Essence Warden, Rhox Faithmender) - Counter growth and doubling: the life gained becomes +1/+1 counters through Betor and other lifegain-to-counter cards, then counter multipliers and proliferate inflate them for lethal trampling or flying attacks (Corpsejack Menace, Kami of Whispered Hopes, Kalonian Hydra) - Lifegain payoff creatures: creatures that grow or draw cards whenever life is gained, turning the engine into card advantage and threats (Exemplar of Light, Nykthos Paragon, Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel) - Drain conversion: effects that make each lifegain event cost opponents life, giving a non-combat kill (Enduring Tenacity, Vizkopa Guildmage, Lunar Convocation) - Paying life as a resource: pain mana, life-costing draw and removal with life-loss drawbacks set up Betor's and Moseo's reanimation and the gain-and-lose triggers (Darkstar Augur, Staff of Compleation, Talisman of Hierarchy) - Graveyard recursion: Betor, Moseo and sacrifice-reanimation bring back value creatures, and creatures can be dumped into the graveyard deliberately as targets (Moseo, Vein's New Dean, Cauldron of Essence, Buried Alive)
