K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth converts life into mana, letting the deck rapidly deploy threats and spells by paying black mana costs with 2 life each, fueled by the abundant lifelink creatures and life-gain effects throughout the deck. The deck accumulates life through lifelink attackers, life-drain triggers from cards like Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose and Marauding Blight-Priest that punish opponents whenever life is gained, and then converts that life advantage into lethal payoffs through X-spells like Exsanguinate or a 50-damage shot from Aetherflux Reservoir. Black's deep devotion and heavy Swamp count also empower drain spells like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Corrupt, giving the deck multiple overlapping paths to drain opponents out while K'rrik snowballs in size from every black spell cast.
