Dromar, the Banisher (predh)
Dromar, the Banisher Commander Deck
Dromar, the Banisher leads a reanimator-control deck built as a theme deck from the old-border card pool, Alpha through Scourge. Counterspells, board wipes and attack taxes slow the game down. Looting, discard outlets and self-mill fill the graveyard, and a deep suite of reanimation and recursion spells cheats huge fliers and value creatures into play ahead of schedule. Once a big threat or Dromar connects, the commander's combat trigger, paying {2}{U} to bounce every creature of a chosen color, clears the way for repeated evasive attacks. Mass recursion and repeatable reanimation engines rebuy enters-the-battlefield and death triggers after each wipe, keeping inevitability through card advantage and graveyard value. How it wins: It reanimates oversized evasive threats after sweeping or taxing the board, then attacks in the air with them and Dromar, whose color-bounce triggers keep blockers and opposing boards off the table until opponents fall. Key roles: - Graveyard filling: Loot, wheel and self-mill effects discard or bin fat creatures early so they can be reanimated cheaply, also smoothing draws (Buried Alive, Frantic Search, Cephalid Broker) - Reanimation engines: Single-target and repeatable recursion puts big threats onto the battlefield for a fraction of their cost and turns sacrifices and deaths into value loops (Recurring Nightmare, Animate Dead, Necromancy) - Mass recursion after wipes: Wrath effects pair with symmetrical or pile-based mass reanimation, so the deck sweeps the board and then returns its own creature graveyard in one swing (Living Death, Death or Glory, Decree of Pain) - Evasive finishers: Huge fliers and protection-laden bodies are the reanimation targets that close games and carry Dromar's bounce plan alongside it (Akroma, Angel of Wrath, Spirit of the Night, Iridescent Angel) - Board lock and tempo: Attack taxes, combat-skipping, counters and repeatable creature removal keep opponents from racing while the bounce trigger and enter-the-battlefield bounce reset their boards (Propaganda, Blinding Angel, Visara the Dreadful) - Lifegain buffer: Lifelink-style effects and life swings offset painlands, symmetric damage and self-inflicted life loss, letting the deck grind long games (Exalted Angel, Pestilence, Angelic Chorus)
