Maralen, Fae Ascendant is the engine of an Elf and Faerie tribal deck. Every Elf or Faerie that enters, including tokens, exiles two cards from an opponent's library, and once each turn a spell exiled this way with mana value up to the number of Elves and Faeries you control can be cast for free. The deck floods the board with cheap flash Faeries and Elf Warrior tokens to trigger Maralen over and over, steal opposing spells, and grow a lord-boosted swarm of flyers and Elves. How it wins: It overwhelms opponents with a pumped-up army of flying Faeries and wide Elves, finishing with Lathril's ten-Elf drain or lethal combat damage, while Obyra pings each opponent for every Faerie that enters. Key roles: - Token makers: put many Elves and Faeries onto the battlefield to trigger Maralen and swell the team, such as Bitterblossom and Elvish Promenade. - Tribal lords: pump the whole team so the swarm hits hard in the air and on the ground, such as Scion of Oona and Elvish Archdruid. - Elf mana: turn the Elf count into big mana so multiple creatures can be deployed in one turn, such as Priest of Titania and Tyvar Kell. - Flash and counterspells: let the deck act on opponents' turns, counter key spells, and make Faerie tokens from the answers, such as Spellstutter Sprite and Glen Elendra's Answer. - Elf payoffs: convert the growing Elf count into drain, card advantage, and damage, such as Lathril, Blade of the Elves and High Perfect Morcant.
