Teval, Arbiter of Virtue gives every spell delve, so this Sultai self-mill deck fills its graveyard and spends it as mana. The lifelink 6/6 flier and life-swing effects offset Teval's life loss on cast. Mill engines and dredge stock the yard, delve and recursion turn it into cheap spells, replayed lands and reanimated creatures, and a cluster of "cards leave your graveyard" payoffs turns each delve payment or recast into tokens, Treasure and cards. Teval's self-inflicted life loss feeds Vilis for card draw, and life-total manipulation turns a low life total into a weapon. How it wins: It overwhelms opponents with recurred threats, reanimated fatties and Zombie tokens, then closes with flying beats, a large Exsanguinate, or life-total swaps and equalizers after Teval's life loss, with Platinum Angel and Pact Weapon covering the risk of dying to its own costs. Key roles: - Self-mill engine: Repeated and bulk milling fills the graveyard to fuel delve, flashback and recursion, while also hitting lands and creatures that other cards put straight onto the battlefield (Hermit Druid, Hedron Crab, Glimpse the Unthinkable) - Graveyard-leave payoffs: Every card exiled to delve or cast from the yard triggers rewards like Zombie tokens, Treasure and card draw, so Teval's delve doubles as a value engine (Teval, the Balanced Scale, Teval's Judgment, Kheru Goldkeeper) - Casting from the graveyard: Permanents, lands and spells get replayed or flashed back straight from the yard, turning milled cards into a second hand (Muldrotha, the Gravetide, Lier, Disciple of the Drowned, Six) - Lands from the yard and mill-to-battlefield: Milled lands return to play to ramp and repeat landfall mill triggers, and creatures milled from the library can hit the battlefield directly (Hedge Shredder, Icetill Explorer, Colossal Grave-Reaver) - Life as a resource: Teval's on-cast life loss becomes card draw, while life-total swaps and equalizers turn a low or high life total against opponents (Vilis, Broker of Blood, Soul Conduit, Repay in Kind) - Safety nets and finishers: Lifelink, loss-prevention effects and drain close games while protecting the pilot from the commander's cost (Platinum Angel, Pact Weapon, Exsanguinate)
