Illuna, Apex of Wishes
Illuna, Apex of Wishes Commander Deck
This Temur mutate deck stacks mutate creatures onto non-Human bases, often cheap hexproof bodies. Each mutation re-triggers every "whenever this creature mutates" ability in the pile, starting with Illuna's own trigger that exiles down to a nonland permanent and puts it onto the battlefield or into hand. The pile grows into a huge flying, trampling, hasty threat while the triggers snowball into card draw, removal, tokens, extra permanents and lock-down taps, backed by free-cast cascade-style value from Etali and big top-of-library effects. How it wins: Illuna and other mutate piles grow into a hexproof, hasted, flying, trampling monster that overwhelms opponents in combat, with the defenders tapped down, extra Beast bodies alongside, and big pump effects to finish. Key roles: - Mutate bases: Cheap or hexproof non-Human creatures give mutate spells a safe target, so a removal spell aimed at the stack can't undo several turns of investment. (Slippery Bogle, Venomthrope, Mysterious Egg) - Stacking mutate triggers: Every new mutation repeats all the triggers already in the pile. That turns Illuna's free permanents, Starrix's growing permanent drops and Archipelagore's escalating taps into an accelerating engine. (Auspicious Starrix, Archipelagore, Dreamtail Heron) - Interaction stapled to bodies: Many mutate creatures double as removal, bounce, theft, ramp or recursion. The deck can answer threats and still keep building its main attacker. (Sawtusk Demolisher, Pouncing Shoreshark, Gemrazer) - Creature-cast engines and cost reduction: Discounts and draw-on-cast effects reward casting a steady stream of creature and mutate spells. Big-body draw rewards cards for landing power-4-plus creatures. (Pollywog Symbiote, Animar, Soul of Elements, Beast Whisperer) - Free-cast and top-of-library value: Effects that cast or deploy spells off the top of libraries add bursts of free permanents and fit the deck's reveal-until-permanent theme. (Etali, Primal Conqueror, Genesis Ultimatum, Vivien, Monsters' Advocate) - Haste, protection and finishing: Haste lets a freshly built pile attack immediately, while protection spells guard the stacked creature. Mass pump and combat-damage draw close out games. (Temur Ascendancy, Swiftfoot Boots, Return of the Wildspeaker)
