Child of Alara
Child of Alara Commander Deck
Five-color land destruction prison built around Child of Alara as a 6/6 trampling threat whose death trigger wipes every nonland permanent, letting the deck reset the board while it keeps opponents starved of mana. Mass and targeted land destruction, symmetrical sacrifice effects and lock pieces like Desolation and Mana Breach strip opponents' resources. The deck rebuilds itself through indestructible artifact lands and mana rocks, land recursion, and creatures that profit when lands hit the graveyard. Once the table is mana-screwed, Child of Alara, Elemental tokens and other bodies attack into empty boards, with Dingus Egg adding damage each time a land dies. How it wins: It locks opponents out of mana with repeated land destruction, then beats down with Child of Alara and land-death value creatures while Dingus Egg and damaging lands chip away at life totals. Key roles: - Armageddon effects: Wholesale land wipes and symmetrical land sacrifice set every opponent back to zero, timed so the deck recovers first (Fall of the Thran, Wildfire, Boom // Bust). - Targeted land denial: Cheap spells, creatures and utility lands keep picking off whatever lands opponents rebuild or lean on, especially nonbasics (Stone Rain, Avalanche Riders, Dust Bowl). - Mana lock pieces: Ongoing enchantments and a protective creature punish opponents for tapping lands and casting spells, and shield the deck's own land base from interference (Desolation, Mana Breach, Tomik, Distinguished Advokist). - Wipe-proof mana base: Indestructible artifact lands and rocks survive both land destruction and Child of Alara's death trigger, so the deck keeps casting spells after a reset (Darksteel Ingot, Skyclave Relic, Darkmoss Bridge). - Land graveyard payoffs: Cards that turn dying lands into damage, tokens, life or replayed land drops, rewarding the deck's own land sacrifices (Titania, Protector of Argoth, Dingus Egg, Perennial Behemoth). - Board resets and recursion: Child of Alara's death trigger and other wipes clear opposing threats, and legendary or saga recursion brings the key pieces back afterward (Nevinyrral's Disk, Havi, the All-Father, The Mending of Dominaria).
