Atraxa, Praetors' Voice
Atraxa, Praetors' Voice Commander Deck
Atraxa is the engine of a poison and proliferate deck. Cheap toxic creatures and spells that give every opponent a poison counter get a first counter on each player. Atraxa's free end-step proliferate, backed by a large suite of proliferating spells and creatures, then pushes everyone toward ten poison counters. A secondary +1/+1 counter package grows the attackers, makes them unblockable and turns them into mana and card draw, and the same proliferate effects stack those counters too. How it wins: It spreads poison counters across all opponents with toxic attackers and table-wide poison spells, then proliferates repeatedly, with Atraxa every end step plus instant-speed and triggered proliferates, until every opponent reaches ten poison. Key roles: - Toxic attackers: Small, evasive or double-striking creatures put the first poison counters on players, and some of them proliferate or come back when they connect or die. (Bloated Contaminator, Blightbelly Rat, Voidwing Hybrid) - Deathtouch poison: Deathtouch creatures, Atraxa included, become two-poison-counter hits whenever they connect, which turns the lifelinking flier commander into a fast clock. (Fynn, the Fangbearer, Vampire Nighthawk, Bilious Skulldweller) - Table-wide poison spells: Cheap spells hand every opponent a poison counter at once while drawing cards or removing threats. This seeds proliferate targets without needing to attack. (Prologue to Phyresis, Infectious Inquiry, Vraska's Fall) - Proliferate density: Cantrips, removal, counterspells and repeatable creature triggers each add another counter to every poisoned player and every countered permanent, on top of Atraxa's end-step trigger. (Flux Channeler, Evolution Sage, Experimental Augury) - +1/+1 counter growth and evasion: Counter placers and doublers grow the board. Countered creatures then become unblockable, produce mana or draw cards, so toxic hits land reliably. (Kami of Whispered Hopes, Herald of Secret Streams, Innkeeper's Talent) - Protecting the engine: Cheap hexproof, indestructible and phasing effects keep Atraxa and the key engines alive, and several of them add a counter while doing it. (Heroic Intervention, Tyvar's Stand, Slip Out the Back)
