Thalia and The Gitrog Monster Commander Deck
This is a lands deck that turns extra land drops into a steady stream of value and threats. Thalia and The Gitrog Monster, backed by a pile of extra-land-drop and play-from-graveyard or play-from-top effects, puts several lands onto the battlefield each turn. A wide suite of landfall payoffs turns every land into tokens, mana, cards or life loss. The commander's attack trigger, fetchlands and land-sacrifice spells keep feeding lands into the graveyard, where they are replayed, while its tapped-entry clause slows opponents' creatures and nonbasic lands. How it wins: It floods the board with landfall tokens and drains, from Rampaging Baloths, Scute Swarm, Avenger of Zendikar, Field of the Dead and Ob Nixilis, then swarms or bleeds opponents out over a few multi-landfall turns. Key roles: - Extra land drops: These stack additional plays per turn, together with Thalia and The Gitrog Monster's own extra drop, multiplying every landfall trigger. (Azusa, Lost but Seeking, Dryad of the Ilysian Grove, Exploration) - Lands from graveyard and library top: These let lands be played again from the graveyard or straight off the library, so extra drops never run dry and fetchlands become repeatable landfall. (Crucible of Worlds, Ramunap Excavator, Oracle of Mul Daya) - Land sacrifice loop: The commander's attack trigger, fetchlands, bounce lands and land-sacrifice ramp spells put lands in the graveyard. That draws cards, makes Elementals and sets up mass land returns for huge landfall bursts. (The Gitrog Monster, Titania, Protector of Argoth, Splendid Reclamation) - Landfall token engines: These turn each land drop into creatures, from small Insects and Plants to 4/4 Beasts and copies, with doubled triggers from land entries. (Rampaging Baloths, Scute Swarm, Ancient Greenwarden) - Landfall value and reach: Each land drop also produces mana, cards and direct life loss, fueling more plays while draining the table. (Tireless Tracker, Lotus Cobra, Ob Nixilis, the Fallen) - Graveyard recursion: These recover whole boards or key permanents after a wipe or after self-milling, keeping the engine rebuilding. (Eerie Ultimatum, Six, Life from the Loam)
