Kykar, Wind's Fury Commander Deck

by J0SH86 cards

Kykar, Wind's Fury runs a Jeskai spellslinger deck. Each cheap noncreature spell becomes a 1/1 flying Spirit, which can either swing in the air or be sacrificed for red mana to keep the chain going. A pile of cantrips, counterspells and cheap interaction feeds both commanders' cast triggers. That army is backed by other spell-cast token makers, token doublers and trigger doublers, plus anthems and Spirit payoffs that turn the chaff into a real threat. How it wins: It floods the board with flying Spirit and Bird tokens, pumps them with anthems and mass counters, and swarms opponents in the air, with a few huge cast-trigger Eldrazi and burn finishers backing it up. Key roles: - Spell-cast token engines: Permanents beyond Kykar that make a flying or artifact body for each noncreature or instant/sorcery cast, giving each cheap spell several bodies. (Kykar, Zephyr Awakener, Murmuring Mystic, Saheeli, Sublime Artificer) - Trigger and token multipliers: These double the cast triggers or the tokens they create, turning a single cantrip into a wave of fliers. (Veyran, Voice of Duality, Bard, King of Dale, Clarion Spirit) - Cheap cantrips and spell density: One-mana and two-mana selection and draw spells and recurring flashback sorceries. They fuel triggers cheaply, keep the hand full and fill the graveyard. (Ponder, Consider, Antiquities on the Loose) - Spirit mana and big cast payoffs: Sacrificing Spirits for red mana, plus Treasure, lets the deck chain spells. It also accelerates into Eldrazi whose value comes on cast, so even countered ones still pay off. (Desolation Twin, Hideous Taskmaster, Sanar, Unfinished Genius // Wild Idea) - Anthems and swarm finishers: Static boosts, mass counters and evasion turn 1/1 tokens into lethal flying attacks, and the card draw keeps the swarm refueled. (Intangible Virtue, Vanguard of the Restless, Practiced Offense) - Spell-based control and protection: Counterspells, bounce, tapping effects and attack taxes keep threats off the board. Every one of these spells is also a token trigger. (Propaganda, Pact of Negation, An Offer You Can't Refuse)
