Felothar the Steadfast Commander Deck
This is a toughness-matters wall deck. Felothar makes every creature deal combat damage equal to its toughness and lets defenders attack, so a board of cheap 0/4s, 0/5s and giant 0/13 trees turns into a real army. Defender-count mana creatures ramp into high-toughness threats. Toughness boosters, evasion and anthem-style pumps let that board connect. Felothar's sacrifice ability turns spare walls into large card draws with little or no discard, since their power is near zero. Power-based sweepers and Meekstone punish opponents' conventional creatures while leaving the deck's low-power board untouched. How it wins: It swings with a wide board of high-toughness defenders dealing toughness-based damage, made unblockable or evasive and pumped by toughness buffs, while total-toughness payoffs, defender-count drain and life-total swaps close out games. Key roles: - Toughness-as-damage core: Felothar, plus a backup copy of the damage clause and attack-or-block pumps that scale with the gap between power and toughness, turn zero-power walls into heavy hitters. (Bedrock Tortoise, Doran, Besieged by Time, Weathered Sentinels) - Defender ramp and wall density: Mana creatures that tap for more with each defender, and token or tutor effects that add walls, build a large board early. (Overgrown Battlement, Axebane Guardian, Rampart Architect) - Toughness pumps and big bodies: Static and instant toughness boosts and huge-toughness creatures multiply damage and feed effects keyed to the greatest or total toughness. (Stalwart Shield-Bearers, Tower Defense, Captain America's Shield) - Evasion and alpha strikes: Low-power creatures slip past blockers through skulk and power-based blocking restrictions, while haste, double strike and protection enable lethal swings. (Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa, MacCready, Lamplight Mayor, Akroma's Will) - Card advantage from toughness: Felothar's sacrifice ability, enters-the-battlefield draw walls and draw spells scaled by greatest toughness refill the hand, with recursion to rebuy sacrificed walls. (Last March of the Ents, Wall of Blossoms, Phyrexian Reclamation) - Asymmetric board control and alternate finishes: Sweepers and lockdown keyed to high power hit opponents' creatures but spare the deck's own. Total-toughness and defender-count payoffs, plus a life-total exchange, provide non-combat kills. (The Battle of Bywater, Betor, Kin to All, Tree of Perdition)
