Hylda of the Icy Crown is the engine of a tap-down control deck. Every time it taps an untapped opposing creature, it can pay 1 to make a 4/4 Elemental, put a +1/+1 counter on each of its creatures, or scry 2 and draw. Repeatable tappers, tap-everything spells and stun or "doesn't untap" effects keep opponents' boards locked down. A second layer of cards also rewards tapping, and a proliferate package grows the counters and stun counters it hands out. How it wins: It taps opponents' blockers and pays into Hylda's triggers to build an army of 4/4s and counter-pumped creatures, then swings into a frozen board, sometimes finishing with Mjölnir damage, a tapped-creature wipe or a 20/20 Marit Lage. Key roles: - Repeatable tappers: Artifacts, creatures and enchantments that tap opposing creatures every turn or on every opponent's turn. Each activation is a fresh Hylda trigger and a way to clear blockers. (Hylda's Crown of Winter, Opposition, Minister of Impediments) - Mass and multi-target tapping: Spells that tap many creatures at once turn into a burst of Hylda triggers, as long as there is mana to pay for each, and open the way for an alpha strike. (Cone of Cold, Icy Blast, Lost in the Maze) - Tap-payoff layer: Other permanents that draw cards, grow creatures or punish whenever opposing creatures become tapped, doubling up on Hylda's rewards. (Verity Circle, Solitary Sanctuary, Rhoda, Geist Avenger) - Lockdown and stun counters: Stun counters, frost auras and "doesn't untap" clauses keep threats tapped across turns, so the opponents' board stays neutralized while the deck develops. (Freeze in Place, Sleep, Bitter Chill) - Proliferate package: Proliferate stacks more +1/+1 counters onto the army and adds stun counters to frozen enemies, strengthening both the offense and the lock.
