Captain Howler, Sea Scourge Commander Deck
Captain Howler turns every discard into a combat pump: each discard event gives a target creature +2/+0 per card discarded, and that creature draws a card whenever it connects with a player that turn. The deck is a Grixis-free Izzet voltron-aggro shell packed with looting, rummaging and discard-as-cost effects. Activated loot creatures, discard-cost draw spells and mass wheels pump an evasive or hasty attacker, which then refills the hand through Howler's trigger and its own combat-damage draw abilities. Damage doublers and double strike turn those pumps into lethal hits. How it wins: A single evasive or hasty creature, pumped by repeated or mass discard and amplified by double strike or damage doubling, deals lethal commander-style combat damage while drawing cards along the way, with Snort's wheel damage as extra reach. Key roles: - Instant-speed discard outlets: Repeatable tap or mana activations and instant draw spells let the deck discard after blockers are declared, turning each activation into another +2/+0 on Captain Howler's chosen target. (Captain of Umbar, Charging Strifeknight, Thrill of Possibility) - Mass discard bursts: Effects that discard a whole hand or several cards at once count as one event with many cards, giving a huge single pump. Snort also hits opponents for 5 each. (Snort, Forgotten Creation, Ruin Grinder) - Evasive connectors: Unblockable, skulk, flying and menace bodies reliably deal combat damage, cashing in Howler's draw trigger and their own combat-damage card draw. Wonder gives the whole team flying from the graveyard. (Bilbo, Luckwearer, April, Reporter of the Weird, Wonder) - Damage multipliers: Double strike, damage doubling and power doubling multiply the discard pumps into one-shot kills. (Berserkers' Onslaught, Gratuitous Violence, Bulk Up) - Haste enablers: Granting haste lets freshly cast threats attack the turn they land, which shortens the window for opponents to answer the pumped attacker. (The Fire Crystal, Gimli's Reckless Might, Goro-Goro, Disciple of Ryusei) - Cycling and channel fodder: Cards that discard themselves from hand, such as landcycling, cycling, channel and pitch effects, double as pump triggers while smoothing mana. (Rhet-Tomb Mystic, Reinforced Ronin, Oliphaunt)
