How it wins: The deck drains every opponent through its death triggers and lifegain-to-drain loops, then finishes with large burst drains from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Exsanguinate or Bolas's Citadel, fuelled by heavy devotion and Swamp mana. Key roles: - Upkeep pressure and attrition: Sheoldred's opponent-upkeep edict stacks with symmetrical and repeatable sacrifice effects and hand-and-life taxes, so opponents run out of creatures, lands and cards while the deck's recursion keeps its own board refilled. (Braids, Cabal Minion, Court of Ambition, Plaguecrafter) - Sacrifice outlets and fodder: free and incidental sac outlets turn the deck's own creatures into card draw, tutoring or mana. Self-returning bodies and token makers keep supplying fodder. (Viscera Seer, Razaketh, the Foulblooded, Reassembling Skeleton) - Graveyard recursion: upkeep reanimation, mass returns and discard-loop enchantments bring creatures back again and again. Each death becomes value instead of loss, with Living Death able to reset the board in the deck's favor. (Hell's Caretaker, Victimize, Living Death) - Death-trigger drain: aristocrat payoffs turn every creature death on either side into life loss for opponents, which makes the edicts and sacrifices win the game on their own. (Blood Artist, Syr Konrad, the Grim, The Meathook Massacre) - Lifegain-to-drain chain: lifegain triggers are converted into further opponent life loss. Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose paired with the drain creatures and Exsanguinate can spiral into lethal. (Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Starscape Cleric, Gray Merchant of Asphodel) - Mono-black mana and devotion: dense Swamps and black pips power rituals, Swamp-scaling mana and devotion payoffs. That turns out large X drains, a big Gray Merchant trigger and life-paid casting off Bolas's Citadel. (Nyx Lotus, Cabal Stronghold, Bolas's Citadel)
