Big Boy Jace
Jace, Multiverse Architect Commander Deck
Jace, Multiverse Architect leads a four-color planeswalker control deck. It taxes attacks with its own static ability and with pillow-fort enchantments, and digs with its +1. Its −3 and a suite of polymorph effects exile cheap tokens or bodies to cheat big flying finishers into play from the top of a library that runs almost nothing but high-impact creatures. Token makers supply both the fodder for that swap and early defense. Board wipes and spot removal keep the table clear until the reanimated-from-library threats take over. How it wins: It flips tokens into huge fliers like Archfiend of Despair, Archon of Cruelty, Avacyn, Angel of Horror and Aurelia, the Warleader, then closes with evasive damage, extra combats, and forced-attack chaos that has opponents bleed each other out. Key roles: - Polymorph engine: Jace's −3 and mass polymorph spells exile tokens or spent creatures and reveal until a creature hits, putting expensive bombs onto the battlefield for free. Planeswalker copies and blink effects let the swap repeat (Mass Polymorph, Synthetic Destiny, Proteus Staff). - Token fodder: Cheap and instant-speed token makers create bodies to feed the polymorph effects, chump-block, and count up for multi-creature swaps (Secure the Wastes, Lingering Souls, Spectral Procession). - Fat flying payoffs: A creature suite skewed toward big fliers with powerful enter or attack triggers. This makes every reveal a likely game-swinging hit (Archon of Cruelty, Archfiend of Despair, Aurelia, the Warleader). - Pillow fort and protection: Attack taxes stacked with Jace's own combat tax, plus monarch stuns and fog-style tricks, keep the planeswalkers alive and ticking up (Propaganda, Ghostly Prison, Teferi's Reproach). - Forced combat: Goad and forced-attack effects push opposing creatures into each other while the fort shields this player, adding direct damage on top (Taunt from the Rampart, Maximum Carnage). - Sweepers and card selection: Token-making wipes reset the board while leaving fodder behind. Brainstorm-style draws stack the top of the library to control which creature the polymorphs reveal (Martial Coup, White Sun's Twilight, Brainstorm).
