Toph, Earthbending Master Commander Deck

by isaac90 cards

Mono-green lands deck that turns landfall into experience counters for Toph, Earthbending Master, then animates ever-larger land creatures every time it attacks. Extra land drops, fetchlands, ramp spells and land-sacrifice effects pile up experience. A wide suite of earthbend effects and +1/+1 counter payoffs grows the animated lands. Because earthbended lands return to the battlefield when they die, the land army is resilient, and each return is another landfall trigger. How it wins: It attacks with huge hasty land creatures, pumps them with counter doubling, Bumi's land counters and mass pump with trample, and overwhelms opponents in combat. Key roles: - Landfall acceleration: Extra land drops, fetchlands, land-sacrifice ramp and lands replayed from the graveyard or library top stack several landfall triggers per turn. These build Toph, Earthbending Master's experience and fuel the other landfall payoffs (Azusa, Lost but Seeking, Scapeshift, Ramunap Excavator). - Earthbending army: Creatures, spells and abilities turn lands into hasty counter-laden creatures. Their dies-and-returns clause makes trades and sweepers fuel more landfall (Avatar Kyoshi, Earthbender, The Boulder, Ready to Rumble, Cracked Earth Technique). - Counter amplification: Effects that double, proliferate or spread +1/+1 counters turn modest earthbends into lethal threats. A counter holder preserves counters from creatures that leave (Kalonian Hydra, Bristly Bill, Spine Sower, Evolution Sage). - Lands-as-creatures synergies: Some cards make every land or creature also count as a Forest or creature, adding mana engines that reward tapping creatures and Forests. Rockalanche scales with Forests, so animated lands double as big mana sources (Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Nissa, Who Shakes the World). - Counter-and-power card draw: Draw engines trigger off placing counters, counting countered creatures, or sacrificing a huge creature for its power. Big earthbended lands come back after being sacrificed, so these draws carry little cost (Terrasymbiosis, Greater Good, Inspiring Call). - Combat finishers: Trample grants, mass pump and evasion push damage through blockers. Combat hits feed back into more land drops (Overrun, Kodama of the West Tree, Sphere Grid).
