Kykar, Wind's Fury
Kykar, Wind's Fury Commander Deck
Kykar turns every noncreature spell into a 1/1 flying Spirit, so a deck dense with cheap instants and sorceries builds a growing air force while it controls the board. Those Spirits double as fuel: sacrificing them for red mana pays for more spells, which makes more Spirits, so Kykar is the engine of a storm-style chain where each spell partly refunds itself. The deck plays as a reactive control shell that can pivot into an explosive turn with a combo or a storm finisher, while the flying tokens pressure opponents on the side. How it wins: It either takes over with a wide flying Spirit army pumped by anthem or overrun effects, or chains spells off Kykar's Spirit mana into a lethal storm count or an infinite combo. Key roles: - Cheap spell density: Low-cost instants, sorceries and cantrips that each trigger Kykar for a Spirit while digging deeper and keeping the chain going. - Spirit mana and cost reducers: Effects that make spells cheaper or untap and refund mana. Paired with sacrificing Spirits for red through Kykar, they let a single turn string together many spells. - Storm and spell-count payoffs: Cards that scale with the number of spells cast in a turn, through storm copies, damage per spell or growing threats, turning a long chain into a kill. - Combo pieces: Loops built from spell recursion, untap effects or token and sacrifice synergies that, combined with Kykar's Spirit generation and red mana, produce infinite mana, tokens or damage. - Interaction and control: Counterspells, bounce, removal and wraths that protect the engine and blunt opponents. Each one cast also adds another flying Spirit, so defense builds board presence. - Token anthems and flying pressure: Effects that pump tokens or fliers, or punish opponents whenever tokens enter or die, turning the accumulating Spirits into a real evasive clock.
