The deck fills the graveyard with black creatures as quickly as possible, then uses Balthor the Defiled's activated ability to return all of them to the battlefield at once for a massive board state advantage. Because the ability also benefits opponents, the deck is built to capitalize on the mass resurrection more than anyone else, typically by having the largest graveyard or by winning immediately after the trigger resolves through combat or death triggers. Many of the creatures are Minions, which benefit from Balthor's passive buff, and the deck often uses sacrifice outlets and looting effects to stock the graveyard before popping the ultimate at the right moment.
