The deck is a Bant historic-value pile built around the Doctor Who legends. The Fourth Doctor lets it play an artifact, legendary or Saga off the top of the library each turn and makes Food, while Sarah Jane Smith turns the first historic spell each turn into a Clue. Cheap artifacts and companion creatures keep the top-deck chain going, and those Food and Clue tokens feed artifact and token payoffs that grow a board of legendary creatures. Sagas, read-ahead and flash enablers add card advantage, removal and instant-speed historic casts on opponents' turns. How it wins: It builds a wide board of buffed legendary creatures and tokens, then pushes through with evasion, global pumps, double strike or an extra turn. Key roles: - Top-of-library engine: These cards cast historic spells from places other than the hand and reward doing so with extra cards, Clues and copies, turning the Fourth Doctor's once-per-turn play into real card advantage. (Vega, the Watcher, Osgood, Operation Double, The Sixth Doctor) - Food and Clue token factory: Tokens from the commanders are multiplied and copied, then fed into card draw and creature growth, so each token-making trigger produces more than one token. (Academy Manufactor, Peregrin Took, City of Death) - Historic cast payoffs: These cards trigger each time a historic spell is cast, adding Soldiers, pump and spell discounts, much like Sarah Jane Smith's Clue. (Alistair, the Brigadier, Jamie McCrimmon, Peri Brown) - Flash and opponent-turn casting: Letting historic and legendary spells be cast at instant speed lets Sarah Jane Smith's capped trigger fire on every opponent's turn too, and Gandalf the White doubles artifact and legendary enter or leave triggers.
