Massimo, the Magician
Massimo, the Magician Commander Deck
Massimo turbo-tempo: a cEDH-style deck built around cheap, low-power creatures. Massimo turns each creature entering into a carrier for a one-mana instant or sorcery exiled from the graveyard, which can be recast free whenever that creature connects. Under a dense counterspell and stax-protection suite, it lays down evasive or disruptive two-drops, cycles cheap cantrips and interaction into the graveyard to fuel Massimo, and pressures opponents with tax-draw engines while it assembles an Underworld Breach storm finish. How it wins: Mostly by Underworld Breach loops with Lion's Eye Diamond or Lotus Petal and Brain Freeze to mill every opponent out (or Electro with Burning Inquiry), backed by chip damage from small creatures recasting free spells and Electro's leave-the-battlefield burn. Key roles: - Massimo spell-recasting: Cheap creatures enter to pick up one-mana instants and sorceries from the graveyard, then connect through evasion to replay Bolts, counters or cantrips for free. Delney doubles the triggers of small creatures and makes them hard to block (Delney, Streetwise Lookout, Ledger Shredder, Mockingbird). - Spell-cast payoffs and token makers: Cheap spells generate bodies, treasures and mana, which feed Massimo's enter triggers and fuel big turns (Young Pyromancer, Third Path Iconoclast, Storm-Kiln Artist). - Creature tutor chain: Recruiters fetch low-power or low-toughness pieces, each entry adding another Massimo trigger, while instant tutors find combo spells (Imperial Recruiter, Recruiter of the Guard, Spellseeker). - Breach storm package: Fast mana, graveyard-filling tutors and wheels set up escape loops that mill the table (Underworld Breach, Lion's Eye Diamond, Brain Freeze). - Opponent-tax value engines: Punisher draw and treasure effects let opponents' actions refill the hand and ramp (Rhystic Study, Smothering Tithe, Esper Sentinel). - Protection and lock pieces: Free counters and effects that stop opponents from casting spells on this player's turn shield both the combo and Massimo's attackers (Fierce Guardianship, Grand Abolisher, Voice of Victory).
