Oloro, Ageless Ascetic is a lifegain engine that works even from the command zone. Every upkeep it gains life, and each lifegain lets the player pay {1} to draw a card and drain every opponent. The deck stacks repeatable lifegain triggers, lifegain doublers and drain payoffs so each small gain spirals into extra cards, opponent life loss and bigger creatures. Card-draw triggers loop back into lifegain and drain as well. Extra upkeeps and alternate life-total win conditions turn the swollen life total into a finisher. How it wins: Opponents die to repeated drains from lifegain and card-draw triggers, a lethal X-drain spell, or the player's life total climbing high enough for a life-threshold alternate win. Key roles: - Lifegain drain payoffs: Each instance of lifegain, starting with Oloro's free upkeep triggers, becomes direct life loss for opponents. Some of these punish every opponent at once, and some convert the full amount gained. (Sanguine Bond, Enduring Tenacity, Marauding Blight-Priest) - Lifegain amplifiers and extra upkeeps: Doublers and +1 effects inflate every gain, and in some cases Oloro's draw as well. Extra upkeep steps repeat Oloro's upkeep lifegain and the upkeep-checking win conditions. (Rhox Faithmender, Alhammarret's Archive, Paradox Haze) - Draw-lifegain loop: Card draw from Oloro and other lifegain-to-draw engines triggers draw-based drains and planeswalker growth. That closes a cycle of drawing, gaining and draining. (Queza, Augur of Agonies, Well of Lost Dreams, Exemplar of Light) - Growing lifegain creatures: Bodies get counters or tokens whenever life is gained, building a board that grows every turn and defends the life total. (Nykthos Paragon, Voice of the Blessed, Crested Sunmare) - Life-total win conditions: Cards turn a large life total into an outright win, or double it toward the thresholds these cards check. (Felidar Sovereign, Test of Endurance, Angel of Destiny) - X-drain finishers: Big drain-and-gain spells close games directly. They also feed the lifegain payoffs for a burst of extra drain. (Exsanguinate, Debt to the Deathless, Revival)
