Thranduil, the Elvenking turns the graveyard into a toolbox: every Elf card binned with Entomb, Buried Alive, Gifts Ungiven, Dina's Guidance or Fauna Shaman discards lends its activated abilities to the commander. The deck is built to assemble infinite-mana and untap loops this way, either on the battlefield or through Thranduil himself. The classic case is Devoted Druid in the yard plus an untap source, which lets Thranduil tap for green and untap repeatedly. The mana then flows into lethal Elf activations, backed by a dense tutor and counterspell suite. How it wins: Generate infinite mana or untaps through Elf combo pieces, either on the battlefield or borrowed by Thranduil from the graveyard, then sink it into Elf abilities like Jarad sacrifice drains, Deathrite Shaman drains or Lathril's ten-Elf tap, or into Ezuri, Tyvar and Allosaurus Shepherd pumps for a lethal swing. Key roles: - Graveyard loading: Puts specific Elf cards into the graveyard so the commander gains their activated abilities. It also fuels Jarad and Deathbloom Ritualist and turns tutors into instant combo assembly. (Entomb, Buried Alive, Gifts Ungiven) - Untap combo engines: Untap effects paired with Elves that tap for mana or have a self-untap cost produce infinite mana or activations. The commander can borrow pieces like Devoted Druid's untap from the yard, while haste enablers let freshly cast pieces work at once. (Devoted Druid, Umbral Mantle, Staff of Domination) - Elf mana explosion: Scaling mana Elves turn a wide board into huge mana bursts. Bloom Tender, Incubation Druid and Selvala also make big amounts of colored mana for outlets and redraws. (Priest of Titania, Elvish Archdruid, Circle of Dreams Druid) - Tutors and creature toolbox: Tutors and creature search find the missing combo piece. Vannifar chains up the creature curve, and Eladamri and Fauna Shaman turn spare creatures into answers. (Demonic Tutor, Finale of Devastation, Prime Speaker Vannifar) - Legendary Elf card flow: Legendary Elves entering trigger the commander's draw-two-discard-one, which digs for pieces and pitches Elves into the yard to borrow. Elrond and Beast Whisperer add extra draws off activations and creature casts. (Lathril, Blade of the Elves, Elrond, Moon-Reader, Beast Whisperer) - Payoff outlets and protection: Mana sinks convert loops into a win, while free and cheap interaction protects the combo turn. (Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, Ezuri, Renegade Leader, Fierce Guardianship)
