Thalia and The Gitrog Monster Commander Deck
This is a lands-matter landfall deck. The commander's extra land drop and its attack trigger (sacrifice a creature or land, then draw) drive a loop: fetchlands, sacrifice-a-land ramp and bounce lands feed lands into the graveyard. Those lands are replayed from the graveyard to stack repeated landfall triggers, which produce tokens, mana, cards and life drain. Meanwhile the commander makes opposing creatures and nonbasic lands enter tapped, which slows opponents down while the board of tokens grows. How it wins: It goes wide with landfall token makers and anthem effects, then attacks for lethal, with landfall drain from Ob Nixilis, Iridescent Vinelasher and Retreat to Hagra finishing off weakened opponents. Key roles: - Land sacrifice and extra drops: Cards that sacrifice or bounce lands, plus extra land plays, put several lands onto the battlefield per turn and fill the graveyard. They also fuel the commander's attack trigger and card draw from lands hitting the graveyard. (The Gitrog Monster, Crop Rotation, Harrow) - Graveyard land recursion: Effects that let lands be played from the graveyard, or return all of them at once, turn every sacrificed land into a fresh landfall trigger. Ancient Greenwarden doubles those triggers. (Ramunap Excavator, Ancient Greenwarden, World Shaper) - Landfall token armies: Each land drop creates creatures, from 1/1s up to 4/4 Beasts and self-copying Insects, building an overwhelming board. (Rampaging Baloths, Scute Swarm, Avenger of Zendikar) - Anthems and team evasion: Counters, pumps and keyword sharing make the token swarm lethal. Odric, Lunarch Marshal can spread the commander's first strike and deathtouch to the whole team. (Felidar Retreat, Maja, Bretagard Protector, Odric, Lunarch Marshal) - Landfall drain: Direct life loss on each land entering closes out games without needing combat. (Ob Nixilis, the Fallen, Iridescent Vinelasher, Retreat to Hagra) - Sacrifice value and card flow: Creature deaths and sacrifices, including fodder for the commander's attack, turn into cards and life drain. Landfall Clues and Treasure add further card and mana flow. (Blood Artist, Moldervine Reclamation, Tireless Tracker)
