Counter-doubling effects and lords that pump the entire tribe turn an army of increasingly large Merfolk into an overwhelming combat threat, while Herald of Secret Streams makes all counter-laden creatures unblockable to push through lethal damage. Card advantage engines that trigger on Merfolk attacking or lands entering the battlefield keep the hand full and the momentum going throughout the game.
