Liliana the Repentant
Liliana the Repentant Commander Deck
Mono-black graveyard aristocrats that use Liliana the Repentant to turn every creature or planeswalker entering into mill two, filling the yard with bodies to reanimate and recur. Cheap self-mill creatures, recursive threats and sacrifice outlets feed a loop of creatures dying and coming back. Each death drains opponents through death-trigger payoffs, and Liliana's one-time exhaust ability returns the best creature or planeswalker from the graveyard late in the game. How it wins: The deck grinds opponents down with repeated drain triggers from creatures dying and re-entering, finished by Gray Merchant swings or the Forsaken Miner sacrifice loops that produce unlimited death and drain triggers. Key roles: - Self-mill engine: Cards that mill on entering, on death or each turn stack with Liliana the Repentant's mill-two trigger to stock the graveyard with reanimation targets and turn on delirium and graveyard-size payoffs (Stitcher's Supplier, Undead Butler, Overlord of the Balemurk). - Reanimation and recursion: Spells and enchantments pull big or utility creatures back from the yard, while self-returning creatures keep coming back for free, and each return re-triggers Liliana the Repentant's mill (Animate Dead, Living Death, Bloodghast). - Sacrifice outlets and fodder: Free or mana-producing sacrifice outlets and edict creatures turn spare bodies into mana, cards or removal while keeping the death count high (Phyrexian Tower, Carrion Feeder, Warren Soultrader). - Death-trigger drain: Payoffs convert every creature dying into life loss for opponents, and devotion drain finishes games (Zulaport Cutthroat, Blood Artist, Gray Merchant of Asphodel). - Treasure-crime loop: Pitiless Plunderer pays for Forsaken Miner's return, and the Scavenger's Talent level 2 mill trigger targets an opponent, which counts as a crime. Paired with a free sacrifice outlet, this creates an infinite loop of deaths, mill and drain (Forsaken Miner, Pitiless Plunderer, Scavenger's Talent). - Graveyard-scaling and mill-as-pressure: Some threats grow with graveyard size or turn life loss into opponent mill, and tutors find whichever piece is missing (Golbez, Clad In Darkness, The Master of Lake-town, Demonic Counsel).
