Noctis, Heir Apparent
Noctis, Heir Apparent Commander Deck
Noctis, Heir Apparent leads an Esper equipment-voltron deck that tutors and cheaply deploys powerful Equipment, then moves it around mid-combat. Noctis's free attach triggers on creatures entering during combat, which attacking token makers, myriad copies and Warp-Strike itself (Noctis returns tapped and attacking, unblockable) all supply. The deck stacks combat-damage triggers from swords and the Buster Swords on evasive or double-striking bodies, while stax pieces stop opponents from interacting on its turn. How it wins: Through one or a few heavily equipped, often unblockable or double-striking attackers whose combat-damage triggers and huge stat boosts kill opponents in a few swings, with Quietus Spike halving life totals and myriad spreading the damage across the table. Key roles: - Equipment tutoring and cost cheating: Finds the right Equipment and gets it into play or attached for little or no mana, so even expensive pieces like Colossus Hammer and Kaldra Compleat become usable (Stoneforge Mystic, Puresteel Paladin, Armiger Unleashed) - Combat-entry attach engine: Creatures entering tapped and attacking, myriad copies, and Noctis's Warp-Strike return all trigger Noctis to re-attach Equipment onto the best attacker after blockers are known, alongside other instant-speed and free attach effects (Ainok Strike Leader, Hero of Light, Clive's Invictus Blade) - Trigger multiplication and double strike: Doubled damage steps and doubled Equipment triggers turn each connecting hit into multiple card draws, treasures, discards or lethal life loss (Halvar, God of Battle, Cloud, Midgar Mercenary, Quietus Spike) - Damage-trigger payoffs: Swords and similar Equipment reward connecting with cards, free spells, mana, recursion and counters, snowballing the voltron plan (Buster Sword, Sword of Feast and Famine, Tidus's Brotherhood Sword) - Evasion and protection for the carrier: Unblockability, flying, hexproof and ward keep the equipped threat alive and connecting (Ratonhnhaké꞉ton, Winged Boots, Rogue's Passage) - Turn-locking stax and Equipment recursion: Shuts off opponent responses during combat and rebuilds the artifact board after removal or wipes (Myrel, Shield of Argive, Dual-Bladed Hunter, Noctis, Prince of Lucis)
