Minn, Wily Illusionist
Minn, Wily Illusionist Commander Deck
Minn, Wily Illusionist is a mono-blue draw-two deck. A dense suite of cheap cantrips, looters, symmetrical draw and repeatable draw engines reliably hits Minn's second-card trigger each turn, often on every player's turn. That makes Illusion tokens that grow with each other, plus Eldrazi Spawn, a growing Chasm Skulker and Ominous Seas counters. Illusion-type enablers turn every creature into an Illusion, so any creature that dies can cheat a permanent from an overflowing hand onto the battlefield, with no maximum hand size and big hand-scaling threats as the payoff. How it wins: It overwhelms the table with a swelling board of mutually pumping Illusion tokens and large hand-size creatures backed by counterspells, while Psychosis Crawler drains opponents for every card drawn, amplified by draw doublers. Key roles: - Second-draw triggers: cheap cantrips, looters, upkeep and symmetrical draw, and instant-speed draw on opponents' turns let Minn and similar second-draw cards fire every turn, building wide token armies (Brainstorm, Emrakul's Messenger, Vision Skeins) - Trigger and draw multipliers: these cards double drawing itself or the abilities that drawing sets off, so Minn and the other draw payoffs trigger extra times and tokens and drain pile up fast (Krang, the All-Powerful, Teferi's Ageless Insight, Wizard's Staff) - Illusion tribal: extra Illusion token makers and type-changing effects make the Illusions larger and turn any creature into an Illusion, so every creature death lets Minn put a permanent from hand onto the battlefield (Maskwood Nexus, Leyline of Transformation, Murmuring Mystic) - Token value engine: tokens entering or connecting in combat draw more cards, which feeds the second-draw loop again (Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards, Curiosity Crafter, Reconnaissance Mission) - Big hand payoffs: no-maximum-hand-size effects keep a large hand that powers hand-scaling bodies and a per-draw drain finisher, alongside expensive threats Minn can cheat out (Psychosis Crawler, Body of Knowledge, Sphinx of the Second Sun) - Counter and bounce control: cheap counters, protection spells and bounce effects shield the engine while drawing extra cards, with a repeatable bounce lock at the top end (Arcane Denial, Hullbreaker Horror, Keep Safe)
