Dina, Essence Brewer
Dina, Essence Brewer Commander Deck
Dina, Essence Brewer leads a Golgari aristocrats deck. Token makers and recursive creatures supply a steady stream of bodies, which free sac outlets turn into card draw, mana and drain triggers. Dina draws once per turn when a creature is sacrificed, and her paid ability converts a sacrificed creature's power into life and +1/+1 counters. Lifegain then gets doubled into life loss for opponents and into recursion. How it wins: Repeated creature deaths drain every opponent through death and lifegain payoffs, amplified by turning each life gained into opponent life loss, until the table is bled out. Key roles: - Fodder generation: These cards produce recurring tokens or bodies that return on their own, so there is always something to sacrifice. Some of them doubles token output or replaces dead nontoken creatures with new tokens (Chatterfang, Squirrel General, Pest Rescuer, Bloodghast). - Sac outlets and death value: Free or cheap outlets let creatures die on demand for scry, Treasure, colorless mana or cards. Dina's draw trigger and other once-per-turn or per-death draw effects keep the hand full (Ashnod's Altar, Viscera Seer, Skullclamp). - Drain payoffs: Each creature death, or each token leaving, makes opponents lose life. A fourth death in one turn can upgrade one of these into a permanent table-wide drain emblem (Zulaport Cutthroat, Blood Artist, Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER). - Lifegain conversion: Small lifegain from Pests, drains and Dina's ability is boosted and turned into matching opponent life loss or creature recursion. This makes every drain hit twice as hard (Enduring Tenacity, Pest Rescuer, Veinwitch Coven). - Recursion engine: Dead creatures return to hand or battlefield each turn, and some of these engines grow stronger as more creatures die. This turns the graveyard into renewable fodder and replays enter-the-battlefield value (Meren of Clan Nel Toth, Grave Researcher, Cheerful Osteomancer). - Forced sacrifice and edicts: Edict effects strip opponents' boards while also feeding the deck's own sacrifice count. Some of these steal opponents' sacrificed nontoken permanents or exile their creatures whenever one of the deck's creatures dies (Tergrid, God of Fright, Sothera, the Supervoid, Merchant of Venom).
