Kotis, the Fangkeeper
Kotis, the Fangkeeper Commander Deck
Kotis rewards connecting in combat: each hit exiles cards off the top of the opponent's library equal to the damage dealt, and any spell there with mana value up to that damage can be cast free. The deck builds around multiplying and enlarging Kotis rather than just protecting it. Copy effects create non-legendary token Kotises or turn the whole board into Kotis, legend-rule breakers let real copies coexist, and pump effects that scale with same-named or same-type creatures make each copy hit harder. Evasion, trample and a second layer of "steal from opponents" payoffs turn every connected hit into free stolen spells. How it wins: By swinging with a swarm of large, evasive Kotis copies whose combat damage both kills opponents and casts their own best spells against them for free. Key roles: - Kotis duplication: Token copies, clones and mass-copy sorceries multiply Kotis so several triggers fire each combat. Legend-rule breakers and token doublers make the army snowball. (Helm of the Host, Nanogene Conversion, Rite of Replication) - Legend rule and same-name scaling: Some cards let legendary copies coexist and grow every creature sharing a name or type. A board of Kotis copies then scales its own power, which raises X on each trigger. (Mirror Box, Coat of Arms, Echoing Courage) - Raw power and trample pumps: Team-wide anthems and land-scaled equipment make each hit exile and cast bigger spells. Trample pushes the damage through blockers. (Overwhelming Stampede, Beastmaster Ascension, Blackblade Reforged) - Evasion: Unblockability, flying and fear-style effects ensure the copies actually connect with players. (Aqueous Form, Levitation, Deepchannel Mentor) - Trigger doubling and theft payoffs: Felix doubles each Kotis combat-damage trigger. Gonti, Thief of Sanity and Villainous Wealth add more stolen cards on top. Casting opponents' spells feeds Tasha's Demons and Gonti's cost reduction and Treasure. (Felix Five-Boots, Gonti, Canny Acquisitor, Tasha, the Witch Queen) - Protecting the engine: Kotis is already indestructible, so hexproof and phasing effects shield it from exile, bounce and steal effects. Counterspells guard the key copy spells. (Swiftfoot Boots, Heroic Intervention, Slip Out the Back)
