Obeka, Splitter of Seconds Commander Deck
Obeka is a Voltron commander whose combat damage converts into extra upkeep steps, and the rest of the deck is a pile of "at the beginning of your upkeep" triggers that each fire again in every one of those extra steps. Equipment makes Obeka bigger, evasive and harder to kill so it connects for large amounts of damage. Every point of damage then becomes another round of drain, burn, card advantage, token copies and suspend or counter ticks, with extra combats and double strike multiplying the payoff. How it wins: Obeka connects with a large equipped hit, and the resulting stack of upkeeps drains or burns the table out through the courts and other upkeep payoffs, or reaches eight copies with Mechanized Production in a single turn. Key roles: - Suiting up Obeka: These cards raise Obeka's power and give it double strike, evasion and protection, which turns each combat hit into many upkeep steps. (Wrecking Ball Arm, Leyline Axe, Blackblade Reforged) - Getting through and hitting twice: These pieces make Obeka unblockable or flying and add extra combat phases, so it connects more than once per turn. (Psychic Paper, Karlach, Fury of Avernus, Seize the Day) - Upkeep damage payoffs: These triggers make each extra upkeep a lethal drain or burn, and the courts also grant the monarchy for card flow. (Court of Ambition, Court of Embereth, Twilight Prophet) - Upkeep value engines: These triggers draw cards, cast free spells and accelerate resources over and over, so one big hit refills the hand and the board. (Phyrexian Arena, Plargg and Nassari, As Foretold) - Copy and alternate-win package: Repeated upkeeps snowball token copies of an artifact into the eight-copy win, and these cards let key upkeep triggers or the commander's own trigger be doubled. (Mechanized Production, Court of Vantress, Strionic Resonator) - Shielding the turn: Counterspells and cheap interaction protect the equipped commander and the key upkeep enchantments while the big turn resolves. (Counterspell, Sudden Spoiling, Swan Song)
