This is an X-spell ramp deck. Zaxara taps for two mana and turns every X spell cast into a Hydra token with X counters, so each big X creature, draw spell or removal spell also leaves a large body behind. Counter doublers, token doublers and X-value doublers stack on top of that, turning modest mana into huge Hydras, card draw and lethal drains. How it wins: It overwhelms the table with oversized Hydras and X creatures given trample and evasion, or finishes with large X drains like Exsanguinate and Profane Command, or with Simic Ascendancy's growth-counter win. Key roles: - X spell payload: Creatures and spells with X in their cost each trigger Zaxara for an extra Hydra token while doing their own job, whether that is ramping into threats, drawing cards or clearing the board. (Hydroid Krasis, Genesis Hydra, Villainous Wealth) - Multipliers: Effects that double counters, tokens or X itself compound on every Zaxara trigger and X creature, so one mid-sized spell produces several enormous bodies. (Unbound Flourishing, Adrix and Nev, Twincasters, Corpsejack Menace) - X mana engine: Big mana sources and untap effects on Zaxara or other mana producers fuel ever larger X values, and power-based mana scales with the Hydras on board. (Elementalist's Palette, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, Pemmin's Aura) - Big-power card advantage: Cards that draw based on the greatest power, on large creatures entering, or on high-mana-value spells refill the hand off the oversized Hydras. (Garruk's Uprising, Rishkar's Expertise, Geometer's Arthropod) - Counter synergies and alternate win: Counter placement and counter doubling feed growth counters toward an upkeep win and add Walking Ballista reach, while protection keeps the countered army safe from removal and wipes. (Simic Ascendancy, Zimone, Paradox Sculptor, Tyrant Guard) - Drain and closing reach: X life-loss spells and evasion turn a large mana turn into direct lethal or push blockers out of the way. (Exsanguinate, Profane Command, Champion of Lambholt)
