Nikya of the Old Ways Commander Deck
Nikya of the Old Ways locks the deck into creatures only, but doubles the mana from every land tapped. The list leans into that with an all-creature build. Mana dorks, land-fetching creatures and land-untappers (Arbor Elf, Voyaging Satyr, Krosan Restorer, Magus of the Candelabra) multiply that doubled land mana. The surplus goes into a stream of huge green and red beaters, while creature-cast draw engines and cast-from-library effects keep the hand full. Many of the fatties carry fight or artifact/enchantment-destroying abilities, so the creature suite also serves as the removal package. Uncounterable creature spells and Ruric Thar or Nullstone Gargoyle punish or shut off the noncreature spells the deck cannot cast anyway. How it wins: It overwhelms opponents with oversized hasty, trampling creatures, often pumped and damage-doubled, swinging until the table falls, sometimes over extra combats. Key roles: - Land doubling and untap engines: Fetching basics and untapping lands each turn stacks extra mana with Nikya's land-doubling, turning a few lands into enough mana for multiple big threats (Arbor Elf, Krosan Restorer, Magus of the Candelabra). - Ramp into a growing land count: Early dorks and land-fetching creatures accelerate toward Nikya and the top end, and some big attackers or token makers keep putting lands into play (Sakura-Tribe Elder, The Earth King, Verdant Kraken). - Creature-cast card flow: Cost reducers, cast-from-library effects and draw-on-cast or draw-on-enter engines let a creature-only deck chain threats without running out of cards (Garruk's Horde, Primordial Sage, Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma). - Removal on bodies: Fight effects, enrage fighting and artifact/enchantment destruction on creatures stand in for the instants and sorceries Nikya forbids (Gruul Ragebeast, Thorn Mammoth, Apex Altisaur). - Hasty trampling combat finish: Haste, trample, power doubling, damage doubling and extra combats turn the big bodies into immediate lethal pressure (Xenagos, God of Revels, Absorbing Man and Titania, Hellkite Charger). - Spell hate and uncounterability: Ruric Thar and Nullstone Gargoyle punish or counter opponents' noncreature spells at no cost to this deck, while uncounterable creature effects protect key threats (Ruric Thar, the Unbowed, Nullstone Gargoyle, Prowling Serpopard).
