This Esper tokens deck uses Marneus Calgar as a card-draw engine: every batch of tokens entering draws a card, and his own mana sink keeps making Astartes in the late game. A strong "draw your second card each turn" package closes a loop, since those draws spawn more tokens and the tokens in turn draw more cards. Token doublers, attack-triggered token makers and mass pump turn the resulting wide board into lethal damage, while drain effects and sacrifice outlets punish blockers and board wipes. How it wins: It floods the board with tokens and either swings with an anthem- or double-strike-boosted army, or drains opponents out through enter and death triggers once the board is wide. Key roles: - Draw-to-token loop: Payoffs for drawing a second card each turn turn Marneus Calgar's draws into fresh tokens, which trigger him again and keep cards and bodies flowing. (Mischievous Mystic, Homunculus Horde, Thopter Fabricator) - Token multipliers: Replacement effects double or add to every token creation, which makes each trigger, combat step and Chapter Master activation much larger. (Anointed Procession, Mondrak, Glory Dominus, Elspeth, Storm Slayer) - Attack-triggered army: Creatures and enchantments create tapped-and-attacking tokens or grow off combat, so every attack widens the board and draws cards. (Adeline, Resplendent Cathar, Myrel, Shield of Argive, Endless Foot Assault) - Steady token generation: Upkeep, end-step and opponent-driven token makers produce bodies every turn cycle, including on opponents' turns, for repeated Marneus Calgar triggers. (Bitterblossom, Thalisse, Reverent Medium, Kambal, Profiteering Mayor) - Anthems and finishers: Mass pump, double strike and evasion turn a pile of small tokens into a lethal swing, and Marneus Calgar's own double strike adds to the damage. (Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, True Conviction, Dollmaker's Shop // Porcelain Gallery) - Aristocrats and recursion: Sacrifice outlets and death triggers turn spare tokens into cards, Treasure and life drain, while undying and reanimation bring back key creatures. (Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, Skullclamp, The Meathook Massacre)
