Kelsien, the Plague
Kelsien, the Plague Commander Deck
Kelsien is an equipment-voltron and creature-control deck: Kelsien pings an opposing creature every turn, and each kill grows it through experience counters. Deathtouch, damage-boosting and untap effects turn its 1-damage tap into repeatable removal, while equipment tutors, cost reducers and free-equip enablers keep Kelsien suited up. Death triggers convert the steady stream of dying creatures into cards, Treasure and counters, and Minthara and Otharri add more experience that pumps the whole team. How it wins: Kelsien and the team clear the board of blockers and grow huge off experience counters, then the deck closes with hasty commander beats (doubled by Mjölnir or ended by Vorpal Sword), Revel in Riches Treasure, repeated table-wide burn from a Hawkeye's Bow-equipped Kelsien, or the Repercussion and All Will Be One damage combos. Key roles: - Deathtouch pinger: Kelsien's tap damage comes from Kelsien itself, so granted deathtouch lets it destroy any creature each turn, and granted lifelink gains life off each ping, turning the commander into a repeatable removal engine that racks up experience (Basilisk Collar, Mari, the Killing Quill). - Extra activations and bigger pings: Untap effects let Kelsien and other pingers fire more than once per round, and damage boosters let a single ping kill outright while drawing cards (Drumbellower, Sting, the Glinting Dagger, Taii Wakeen, Perfect Shot). - Equipment package: Tutors, cost reducers and flash or free equip effects find gear and attach it cheaply, often drawing cards as it lands (Stoneforge Mystic, Puresteel Paladin, Forge Anew). - Death-trigger value: Every creature that dies feeds Treasure, cards, mana and growing threats, and setting opposing creatures to base toughness 1 lets a single ping finish them (Mahadi, Emporium Master, Morbid Opportunist, Maha, Its Feathers Night). - Experience and counter scaling: Experience counters from Kelsien, attack triggers and end-step triggers pump the team, and a proliferate land can add more. Counters placed on permanents also fuel damage engines (Minthara, Merciless Soul, Otharri, Suns' Glory, The Red Terror). - Table-wide ping finisher: With the bow on Kelsien, every tap of its ping also deals 1 damage to each opponent. A noncombat-damage boost adds X to both the creature ping and each opponent hit, damage dealt to creatures echoes back to their controllers, and untaps during other players' untap steps and at each combat let Kelsien tap again and again for a large burst across the whole table (Hawkeye's Bow, Taii Wakeen, Perfect Shot, Repercussion). - Damage combo finishers: A board wipe or growing counter loops convert into lethal damage to opponents. The damage-echo enchantment plus a 13-damage wipe nearly kills the table, and the counter-damage enchantment with the counter-growing Tyranid goes infinite (Blasphemous Act, All Will Be One, The Red Terror).
