Belbe, Corrupted Observer
Belbe, Corrupted Observer Commander Deck
This deck turns Belbe's postcombat colorless burst into a ramp engine. A wide suite of cheap pingers, attack triggers and symmetrical life-loss draw spells makes sure opponents lose life every turn. Belbe gives the active player {C}{C} per opponent who lost life, so on the deck's own turn that is up to six extra colorless mana in the second main phase, though it also feeds opponents on their turns if they deal damage. That mana, plus heavy artifact ramp, is poured into huge Eldrazi and green fatties that draw cards off their size and end the game. How it wins: It chips every opponent with incremental drain until the postcombat mana lands a ten-power Eldrazi or wurm, which, backed by drain finishers and mass removal, attacks the table to death. Key roles: - Life-loss enablers: One-drop attackers, upkeep pingers and tap abilities guarantee every opponent loses life before Belbe's postcombat trigger, while slowly draining the table. (Loyal Subordinate, Creeping Bloodsucker, Night Market Lookout) - Symmetrical drain draw: Spells that hurt every player both refuel the hand and switch on Belbe's mana for the turn. (Crushing Disappointment, Risky Shortcut, Cast Away Doubt) - Colorless ramp into Eldrazi: Mana rocks stack with Belbe's colorless output to cast and activate colorless threats early. Some of those threats cut costs or tutor the next giant. (Conduit of Ruin, Sol Ring, Endbringer) - Big-body payoffs: Massive creatures with cast triggers, annihilator or death insurance close the game and are hard to answer cleanly. (Desolation Twin, Artisan of Kozilek, Void Winnower) - Power-matters card advantage: High-power creatures turn into card draw through enchantments and draw spells that scale with the biggest creature. Several big spells also trigger value on cast. (Garruk's Uprising, Rishkar's Expertise, Up the Beanstalk) - Free-cast and cheat effects: Cascade, discover and creature cheating put fatties or spells into play without paying full cost. (Tooth and Nail, Apex Devastator, Chimil, the Inner Sun)
