Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist & Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh
Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist & Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh Commander Deck
Boros Voltron that piles Equipment and Auras onto a single evasive threat, usually Rograkh. Ardenn moves the whole stack for free at the start of each combat, onto whichever creature is best that turn. Rograkh costs zero and already has first strike, menace and trample, so heavy Equipment like Colossus Hammer, Ogre's Cleaver and Inquisitor's Flail turns him into a trampling one-shot commander-damage threat. Cost reducers, free-equip effects and Equipment tutors assemble the kit quickly, while draw engines that trigger on Equipment entering, being cast or attacking keep the cards flowing. How it wins: Ardenn moves every Equipment onto Rograkh or another commander, double strike and damage doubling are added, and the resulting hit kills a player with 21 commander damage, with Kediss copying that damage to each other opponent. Key roles: - Equipment access and cheating: Tutors and put-into-play effects find the right Equipment and get expensive pieces out early, while discounts and free equip costs remove the usual mana tax. Ardenn's free reattachment covers the rest. (Stoneforge Mystic, Puresteel Paladin, Armored Skyhunter) - Damage multipliers: Double strike and damage doubling turn one big equipped attacker into a lethal commander-damage hit in a single swing. (Reyav, Master Smith, Inquisitor's Flail, Bladehold War-Whip) - Raw stat stacking: Huge power boosts, along with boosts that scale with artifacts, lands or creature cards in graveyards, reach 21 commander damage quickly. Equip costs that would normally be prohibitive are bypassed by Ardenn's attach or by free-equip effects. (Colossus Hammer, Ogre's Cleaver, Blackblade Reforged) - Equipment-fueled card draw: Creatures draw cards whenever Equipment enters, is cast, or attacks while attached, so building the Voltron threat also refuels the hand. (Sram, Senior Edificer, Wyleth, Soul of Steel, Akiri, Fearless Voyager) - Multiplayer reach and legendary synergy: Combat damage from a commander is copied to every other opponent, and several legendary-matter pieces reward attacking alongside the commanders. (Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar, Merry, Esquire of Rohan, Rising of the Day) - Protecting the stack: Hexproof and indestructible effects shield both the carrier and the artifacts. If the carrier dies, Ardenn simply moves the Equipment to a new body, so the deck rebuilds quickly from removal. (Mask of Avacyn, Leonin Abunas, Restoration Magic)
