Betor's deck is an Abzan lifegain-and-counters midrange deck. Repeated small life gains are turned into +1/+1 counters, growing creatures, and life drain on opponents. Betor's end step converts life gained into counters on another creature. Life lost from painlands, talismans and life-payment spells lets Betor return a cheap creature from the graveyard each turn. Counter doublers, gain-triggered growers and drain enchantments make every life point do double or triple work. How it wins: The deck grows lifelink and counter-laden creatures into lethal attackers and drains opponents through repeated life-gain triggers. Key roles: - Incremental lifegain sources: Steady triggers from creatures entering, lifelink bodies, Pest tokens and charm modes fuel Betor's counters every turn, and doubling effects multiply each gain. (Liliana the Faultless, Dazzling Angel, Rhox Faithmender) - Lifegain-to-counters payoffs: Creatures and effects that grow whenever life is gained, paired with Betor and similar end-step distributors, turn gains into large threats. (Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn, Ajani's Pridemate, Aerith Gainsborough) - Counter amplification and evasion: Effects that add extra counters to each placement and grant trample or vigilance to countered creatures make the board both bigger and harder to block. (Hardened Scales, Kami of Whispered Hopes, Emil, Vastlands Roamer) - Drain finishers: Converting each life-gain event into opponent life loss closes games without combat, especially once doubled gains stack up. (Sanguine Bond, Dina, Soul Steeper, Indulging Patrician) - Self-damage and recursion: Pain mana, life-payment removal and spell costs deliberately lose life so Betor and other end-step reanimation can return creatures, rebuilding after trades or sweepers. (Moseo, Vein's New Dean, Talisman of Hierarchy, Anguished Unmaking) - One-sided sweepers: Mass removal is chosen to spare a board covered in counters or to be easily rebuilt from, letting the deck reset opponents while keeping its own threats. (Damning Verdict, Toxic Deluge, Austere Command)
