Selvala, Heart of the Wilds
Selvala, Heart of the Wilds Commander Deck
Selvala is a mono-green creature-ramp combo deck. It floods the board with mana dorks and elves, then uses Selvala's "add mana equal to greatest power" ability, along with untap effects and big-power creatures, to generate enormous or infinite mana. A deep suite of creature tutors and draw engines finds the pieces, and the deck converts that mana into a lethal Walking Ballista activation or a Craterhoof-style alpha strike. Selvala's draw trigger is symmetrical (any controller draws if their entering creature has the highest power), but here it mainly pays off when large creatures like Woodland Bellower, Ashaya or Craterhoof land. How it wins: It assembles a creature untapper with a high-power mana producer, usually Selvala, for infinite mana, then pings everyone out with Walking Ballista or finds Craterhoof Behemoth to swing with a pumped, trampling board. Key roles: - Untap combo engine: Creatures and artifacts repeatedly untap a big mana producer, especially Selvala or Gaea's Cradle, generating more mana than each untap costs. Ashaya turns nontoken creatures into Forests so the Forest-returning and Forest-untapping effects can target them. (Umbral Mantle, Staff of Domination, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild) - Power and mana amplifiers: Large-power creatures raise Selvala's output, and mana doublers and devotion or creature-count lands multiply what the board taps for. (Leyline of Abundance, Gaea's Cradle, Circle of Dreams Druid) - Elf dork swarm: Cheap elves and druids ramp quickly and scale with elf count. They also supply convoke and Cradle fuel and feed the creature-cast draw engines. (Priest of Titania, Elvish Archdruid, Llanowar Elves) - Creature tutor chain: Creature tutors, discard-to-search engines and sacrifice-to-search effects dig out the combo pieces or finishers on demand. (Survival of the Fittest, Chord of Calling, Natural Order) - Card flow: Cast-a-creature draw effects keep the chain going, and Selvala rewards high-power entries with extra cards. Mass-draw spells refuel through the greatest power or toughness on board. (Beast Whisperer, Glimpse of Nature, Rishkar's Expertise) - Finishers and protection: Mana sinks and an overrun close the game. Anti-counterspell effects, haste enablers and stax pieces like City of Solitude and Collector Ouphe keep the combo turn safe. (Walking Ballista, Craterhoof Behemoth, Allosaurus Shepherd)
