Horobi, Death's Wail turns every targeted creature into a dead creature, so the deck packs repeatable, cheap targeting effects that are normally harmless and uses them as machine-gun removal against opponents' boards. Horobi's trigger is symmetric, so it also hits the deck's own creatures and any creature an opponent targets. The deck leans into the resulting stream of deaths with death-trigger payoffs that drain, draw, make mana and steal bodies. A second engine forces opponents to draw cards while punishing every draw, which is topped by Peer into the Abyss as a finisher. How it wins: It grinds opponents down with drain and punisher damage from constant creature deaths and forced draws, then finishes them with Peer into the Abyss alongside Underworld Dreams, Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted or Orcish Bowmasters. Key roles: - Targeting machine guns: Tap abilities and cheap activations that target a creature become repeatable destroy effects while Horobi, Death's Wail is out. Even minor pump, color-change or evasion effects turn into removal, as do enters-the-battlefield and goad triggers. (Distorting Lens, Liquimetal Torque, Scuttlemutt) - Death payoffs: Every creature that dies drains opponents, draws cards, makes rats or tokens, or builds up mana. This converts the board wipe-by-targeting into incremental advantage and damage. (Syr Konrad, the Grim, Black Market, Harvester of Souls) - Stealing the dead: Opponents' destroyed creatures are recycled under the deck's control, punishing them for every removal Horobi, Death's Wail fires off. (Grave Betrayal, Sepulchral Primordial, Mimic Vat) - Forced draw punishment: Symmetrical and opponent-targeted draw spells feed permanents that deal damage whenever an opponent draws, turning card draw into a weapon. (Underworld Dreams, Fate Unraveler, Seizan, Perverter of Truth) - Peer finisher: Peer into the Abyss makes an opponent draw half their library. Combined with a draw punisher, that is lethal outright, and tutors exist to assemble it. (Peer into the Abyss, Orcish Bowmasters, Diabolic Tutor) - Mono-black mana surge: Swamp-scaling lands and rituals pay for the expensive payoffs and fuel repeated activations of the targeting artifacts. (Cabal Coffers, Gauntlet of Power, Dark Ritual)
