The Wise Mothman
The Wise Mothman Commander Deck
The deck uses radiation counters as a self-refilling mill source: The Wise Mothman hands out rad counters on entering and attacking, and every nonland card milled, whether by radiation, Mesmeric Orb, Ruin Crab or Raul, triggers its ability to spread +1/+1 counters across the board. Counter doublers and proliferate multiply both the +1/+1 counters on creatures and the rad counters on players. A second layer of mill payoffs turns milled cards into card draw, Zombie tokens, life and graveyard plays. How it wins: It attacks with oversized, evasive counter-laden creatures, many flying or unblockable against irradiated players, and can also lock games with the Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank loop that drains and mills opponents out. Key roles: - Radiation and mill engine: These cards put rad counters on players and mill cards outright, so the commander's milled-nonland trigger and the other mill payoffs fire every turn. (Nightkin Ambusher, Vault 12: The Necropolis, Mesmeric Orb) - Counter amplification: These cards increase every placement of +1/+1 counters and add extra rad counters, so each Mothman trigger and each milled card grows the board far faster. (Corpsejack Menace, Winding Constrictor, Hardened Scales) - Proliferate: Repeated proliferation grows creature counters and opponents' rad counters at once, and makes radiation mill escalate turn after turn. (Agent Frank Horrigan, Inexorable Tide, Vexing Radgull) - Mill payoffs: Once-per-turn and repeatable rewards turn milled cards into cards, tokens, life and returning creatures. (Mirelurk Queen, Screeching Scorchbeast, Glowing One) - Graveyard exploitation: Cards milled from any library, opponents' included, become resources that can be cast, reanimated or played as lands. (Raul, Trouble Shooter, The Master, Transcendent, Muldrotha, the Gravetide) - Drain and mill lock: Life loss turns into mill, and cards entering opponents' graveyards turn into drain, which together form a self-sustaining finisher. (Bloodchief Ascension, Mindcrank, Syr Konrad, the Grim)
