Atraxa, Praetors' Voice
Atraxa, Praetors' Voice Commander Deck
You build a wide board of creatures carrying +1/+1 counters and poison counters, then proliferate every turn to grow them all at once. Atraxa proliferates at your end step, and a large package of repeatable proliferate sources (creatures, enchantments and artifacts) adds more triggers on top. Counter doublers and bonus-counter effects multiply each proliferate, while mana creatures and rocks keep you casting threats and fixing all four colors. How it wins: You either overwhelm opponents with oversized, evasive creatures and lifelink swings, or you poison them out with toxic and infect creatures like Fynn and Skithiryx while proliferate pushes everyone toward ten poison counters. Key roles: - Proliferate engines: These cards trigger extra proliferates on top of Atraxa, whether from creatures entering, lands entering, casting spells or combat damage, and make every counter on the board grow each turn. Metastatic Evangel, Inexorable Tide and Evolution Sage are the main examples. - Counter amplifiers: These cards add extra counters whenever any are placed, so each proliferate and each counter source gives far more than one. Hardened Scales, Vorinclex and Innkeeper's Talent do this, and Kami of Whispered Hopes and Michelangelo add to it. - Counter sources and growth payoffs: These put +1/+1 counters on your team (Felidar Retreat, Ouroboroid, Brokers Ascendancy, Bristly Bill) or reward you when counters arrive (Archangel of Thune, Hardened Bonds), so the board keeps growing and you also gain life. - Ramp and fixing: Mana dorks, rocks and land-fetching spells such as Birds of Paradise, Chromatic Lantern and Farseek get your threats out quickly and cover all four colors. - Poison and toxic package: Cards that deal poison, such as Skrelv, Fynn, Skithiryx and Prologue to Phyresis, give proliferate a second way to win. Each proliferate then adds a poison counter to every opponent already poisoned.
