Zaxara, the Exemplary serves as both a mana accelerant and a token generator, tapping for two colored mana to help fuel large X spells that in turn create increasingly massive Hydra tokens scaled to however much mana was spent. The deck's gameplan revolves around casting X spells repeatedly — typically damage-dealers, draw spells, or permanents with X in their cost — to flood the board with giant threats while also leveraging Zaxara's deathtouch to discourage blocks and attacks. Doubling the value of each X spell by pairing a board presence with a spell effect means the deck wins through both overwhelming creature size and the raw power of high-X effects like Hydra Omnivore or Blue Sun's Zenith closing out games.
