Marrow-Gnawer

Marrow-Gnawer Commander Deck

by Catstronaut100 cards

Mono-black Rat tribal that floods the board with Rat tokens and turns them into evasive attacks or a stream of drain triggers. Marrow-Gnawer is the engine: tapping it and sacrificing a Rat creates as many 1/1 Rats as are on the battlefield after the sacrifice, so the swarm roughly doubles each turn. Its static ability gives every Rat fear, which makes the wide board hard to block. Lords, sacrifice outlets and death triggers turn the swarm into lethal combat damage, poison or life loss, while Rat-specific tutors and recursion keep the tribe flowing. How it wins: It goes wide with Marrow-Gnawer's token doubling, then swings with pumped, evasive, deathtouch or toxic Rats, or sacrifices the swarm into drain effects until the table dies. Key roles: - Token multiplication: Steady token makers feed Marrow-Gnawer's sacrifice, so each activation grows the board, and every creature that leaves the battlefield refills it. (Lord Skitter, Sewer King, Rat King, Pale Piper, Piper of the Swarm) - Rat-count payoffs: Creatures that scale with the number of Rats, or grant combat keywords to all of them, turn a wide fear-granted swarm into a lethal alpha strike or a poison kill. (Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm, Karumonix, the Rat King, Pack Rat) - Sacrifice and drain engine: Free sacrifice outlets convert surplus Rats into mana, cards or opponent sacrifices, while death and enter triggers drain each opponent for every Rat that comes or goes. (Ashnod's Altar, Zulaport Cutthroat, Grave Pact) - Card advantage from death: Rats dying to the commander or other outlets refuel the hand, keeping the engine and threats coming. (Skullclamp, Species Specialist, Necropotence) - Rat tutoring and recursion: Rat-specific searches and graveyard returns rebuild the tribe after wipes, including mass reanimation of same-named Rats. (Ratcatcher, Rat King, Verminister, Living Death) - Tribal mana: Rat-count and devotion lands plus cost reducers let the deck deploy and activate a large swarm quickly, and the swarm in turn fuels big mana bursts. (Three Tree City, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Herald's Horn)
