Zurgo, Thunder's Decree
Zurgo, Thunder's Decree Commander Deck
Zurgo, Thunder's Decree leads a Mardu go-wide attack deck. Every attack fills the board with tapped-and-attacking tokens from mobilize creatures and other on-attack token makers. Attack-trigger doublers, token doublers and token copiers multiply those tokens. The temporary bodies are then turned into value and damage: they enter, die and get sacrificed for drain, burn and cards, while Zurgo's end-step clause lets the Warrior tokens survive their own sacrifice triggers and stick around. How it wins: Repeated wide attacks, backed by per-attacker life loss, enter-the-battlefield pings and death drains, deal lethal to the whole table over one or two big combat turns, with sacrifice outlets finishing off what's left. Key roles: - Attack-trigger token makers: Creatures and effects that create tapped-and-attacking tokens whenever they or the team attack, including Zurgo's own mobilize, so each combat goes wider than the last (Dalkovan Packbeasts, Adeline, Resplendent Cathar, Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon). - Trigger and token multipliers: Doubling attack triggers, doubling token creation and copying freshly made tokens turn each mobilize trigger into a much larger army, while Teysa Karlov also doubles the death triggers from those tokens (Isshin, Two Heavens as One, Mondrak, Glory Dominus, Redoubled Stormsinger). - Enter and attack damage: Tokens that enter or attack become direct damage, with life loss for every attacking creature and pings each time a creature arrives, so going wide hurts opponents before blockers matter (Within Range, Impact Tremors, Purphoros, God of the Forge). - Sacrifice and death payoffs: Mobilize tokens are meant to die anyway, so they feed free sac outlets, drain enchantments and burn engines that turn every lost body into reach (Goblin Bombardment, Bastion of Remembrance, Venerated Stormsinger). - Token-fueled card advantage: Doomed tokens are sacrificed to sac-draw spells and engines, so the deck keeps refilling its hand without spending real cards (Skullclamp, Plumb the Forbidden, Hardened Tactician). - Haste and safe combat: Haste enablers let new attackers swing right away, while effects that stop opponents from casting spells during the player's turn protect the alpha strike from tricks and sweepers (Ogre Battledriver, Voice of Victory, Myrel, Shield of Argive).
