Atraxa, Grand Unifier
Atraxa, Grand Unifier Commander Deck
The deck is built to resolve Atraxa, Grand Unifier as often and as profitably as possible, turning its enters-the-battlefield reveal of ten cards into a large hand of one card per card type. Starfield Vocalist doubles that trigger, so a single Atraxa landing digs twenty cards and can refill the hand twice. Nissa, Leyline Tamer needs red mana, which is outside Atraxa's white-blue-black-green color identity, so it cannot be part of the plan. How it wins: Card advantage from a doubled Atraxa trigger buries opponents in resources, while a 7/7 flying, deathtouch, lifelink, vigilance body attacks freely, gains life and holds the board until the game is closed out. Key roles: - Enter-the-battlefield doubling: Making entering permanents trigger their abilities an additional time turns Atraxa's arrival into two full ten-card digs and multiplies the value of every other creature that enters. (Starfield Vocalist, Atraxa, Grand Unifier) - Card-type diversity payoff: The deck rewards running a broad spread of artifacts, creatures, enchantments, instants, sorceries, lands, planeswalkers and battles, so each reveal finds as many different types as possible. (Atraxa, Grand Unifier, Starfield Vocalist) - Cheap setup before the big turn: The doubler can be warped in early for two mana to set up an Atraxa turn, or cast at full cost to stay on board, smoothing the curve into the seven-drop. (Starfield Vocalist) - Resilient finisher: Atraxa's keyword stack lets it attack and still block, win any combat and gain large chunks of life, so it acts as the threat that ends games once the hand is full.
