Kaalia of the Vast is a classic cheat-into-play deck. Kaalia flies in, and each time she attacks an opponent she can put a big Angel, Demon or Dragon from hand onto the battlefield tapped and attacking that opponent, skipping its six-to-eight mana cost. The rest of the deck keeps Kaalia alive and swinging with haste, protection, evasion and cheap interaction, keeps a hand full of fatties through tutors, recursion and card draw, and leans on cheated creatures whose attack triggers, like burn, team flying and lifelink, or double strike, hit the moment they land, with Dragon-specific ramp and backup cheat outlets covering games where Kaalia is answered. How it wins: Kaalia repeatedly cheats huge flying Angels, Demons and Dragons into combat, burying opponents under evasive damage and attack triggers, with Skithiryx poison and Hellkite Tyrant's artifact win as alternate angles. Key roles: - Cheated fatties: expensive flyers that get value on attack or entry, so landing them via Kaalia mid-combat wins races and removes blockers or other permanents (Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, Victory's Herald, Steel Hellkite). - Commander enablement: haste, hexproof, shroud and unblockability let Kaalia attack the turn she lands and survive to trigger, and some of these pieces add card draw or growth on hits (Swiftfoot Boots, Whispersilk Cloak, My Precious // Allure of Power). - Hand stocking and recursion: tutors, digging, looting and reanimation keep cheat targets in hand or bring dead ones back (Diabolic Tutor, Recover, Valgavoth's Faithful). - Dragon ramp and alternate cheats: Dragon-only mana, quest-based Dragon drops, token Dragons and hand-to-battlefield outlets give fallback ways to deploy the threats without Kaalia (Desolation of Smaug, Last Light of Durin's Day, The Misty Mountains Cold). - Board control around a flying army: sweepers that spare the deck's big flyers or Dragons, plus cheap spot removal, clear the way and punish opposing boards (Desolation of Smaug, Pyroclasm, Bilbo's Deadly Slice). - Combat protection and extra pressure: hexproof or indestructible tricks keep the army alive through wraths and removal, and an extra combat phase lets a cheated army hit again (Flare of Fortitude, Dawn's Truce, Response // Resurgence).
