Gonti, Canny Acquisitor leads a Sultai "theft" deck. Evasive, often unblockable creatures connect with opponents, and each connection exiles cards from their libraries for the deck to play, with mana of any type. Gonti, Night Minister, Rogue Class, Predators' Hour and Dream-Thief's Bandana stack extra steal triggers, and Felix Five-Boots doubles combat-damage triggers. Gonti's own cost reduction for spells it doesn't own, plus Savvy Trader and Doc Aurlock, make the stolen cards cheap to cast. Meanwhile ETB and spell-based thieves like Hostage Taker, Black Cat, Villainous Wealth and Covetous Urge raid opponents' decks, hands and boards outside of combat. How it wins: Repeated chip damage from unblockable creatures turns each hit into stolen threats, removal and free spells, burying opponents under their own cards until the growing board and big free-cast payoffs like Villainous Wealth or Kotis finish them. Key roles: - Evasive connectors: Cheap unblockable, flying or menace bodies, plus equipment and tap effects that grant evasion, make sure the combat-damage triggers that drive the whole deck reliably happen every turn (Slither Blade, Cryptic Coat, Whirler Rogue). - Combat-damage theft engines: Permanents that duplicate Gonti's exile-and-play trigger or make it fire extra times, multiplying the cards taken from each hit (Felix Five-Boots, Gonti, Night Minister, Rogue Class). - Free-cast payoffs: Creatures and spells that dig through an opponent's library and cast what they find without paying mana, giving explosive value turns and a way to close games (Villainous Wealth, Kotis, the Fangkeeper, Gríma, Saruman's Footman). - Non-combat thievery and discount: ETB and sorcery effects steal cards from hands, graveyards and the battlefield, and cost reducers make all of those foreign spells cheaper, including Gonti's own discount on spells it doesn't own (Hostage Taker, Black Cat, Cunning Thief, Savvy Trader). - Hit-for-cards draw: Effects that draw whenever creatures connect turn the swarm of small evasive attackers into steady card advantage (Edric, Spymaster of Trest, Bident of Thassa, Shadowmage Infiltrator). - Tempo top-decking: Effects that put creatures or spells on top of their owner's library clear blockers and also seed opponents' next card, which the steal triggers can then exile and use (Time Ebb, Memory Lapse, Temporal Spring).
