Marrow-Gnawer gives every Rat fear and lets you tap and sacrifice one Rat to create a number of 1/1 Rat tokens equal to the Rats you control, so the swarm roughly doubles each turn. The deck builds a wide Rat board that gets bigger with each Rat, makes opponents discard their hands, and punishes them for every card they lose. How it wins: Fear-evasive Rats swing for lethal, boosted by Rat-count scaling and coat-style pumps, while discard triggers and drain effects finish off opponents who are already stripped of cards. Key cards: - Rat-count payoffs: These creatures grow with every Rat you make, turning the token swarm into oversized threats; Pack Rat and Rat Colony are the best examples. - Token generators: These cards add Rats at a steady rate or set up your own Rats, which gives Marrow-Gnawer more fuel; Piper of the Swarm and Ogre Slumlord are the main ones. - Discard punishment: These enchantments turn each discard effect into direct life loss; Megrim and Liliana's Caress are the main ones. - Repeatable discard: These creatures strip hands every turn or on connecting, feeding the punishment triggers; Nezumi Shortfang and Okiba-Gang Shinobi do this. - Untap effects for the commander: These cards untap Marrow-Gnawer so its tap ability can be used more than once a turn; Thousand-Year Elixir and Jandor's Saddlebags do this.
