Jace, Multiverse Architect
Jace, Multiverse Architect Commander Deck
Jace, Multiverse Architect is a "polymorph" deck. It runs few creatures, all of them huge high-mana-value bombs, alongside a large suite of cheap token makers. Jace's −3 and the deck's mass-polymorph spells turn a throwaway token into a random fatty off the top of the library. Jace's +1 draws and filters, sending excess big creatures to the bottom, and its combat tax deters attacks on him. Mana rocks, card selection and token-based wraths that leave a board behind keep the deck alive until the swaps land. How it wins: It cheats game-ending creatures such as Archon of Cruelty, Archfiend of Despair, The Ur-Sphinx and Avacyn into play repeatedly by exiling cheap tokens, then attacks with the oversized flyers and their enter/attack triggers. Key roles: - Polymorph engine: Jace, Multiverse Architect's −3 and the mass exile-and-reveal effects trade tokens for random top-of-library creatures. A creature-light list keeps every hit a bomb, and the draw-and-bottom filtering reinforces this (Mass Polymorph, Synthetic Destiny, Proteus Staff). - Token fodder: Cheap and X-cost spells and permanents create many bodies to feed the swaps. Some also draw cards whenever tokens appear or noncreature spells are cast, chaining value through the spell-heavy list (Secure the Wastes, Shark Typhoon, Staff of the Storyteller). - Self-serving board wipes: Sweepers that also create tokens or incubators reset opposing boards while leaving polymorph fodder or a growing army behind. Indestructibility effects let the deck keep its own creatures through combat or wipes (Martial Coup, Sunfall, Grand Crescendo). - Bomb payloads: Enter and attack triggers on the cheated creatures provide removal, card draw, drain and extra free creatures. Doubled attack triggers multiply their impact (Archon of Cruelty, Jhoira, Weatherlight Corsair, Windcrag Siege). - Planeswalker and noncreature support: Effects that empower Jace or reward noncreature spells add loyalty, cards and tokens while Jace stays protected by the attack tax and blockers (Plan for All Outcomes, Fatehold Charm, Whirlwind of Thought). - Ramp and fixing: A dense rock package accelerates into the four-color commander and the hard-cast seven- to ten-drops when a polymorph isn't available (Sol Ring, Chromatic Lantern, Arcane Signet).
