Kotis, the Fangkeeper Commander Deck
Kotis is a Voltron commander. The deck pumps Kotis, uses its indestructibility, and pushes it through for combat damage. Every point of damage exiles a card from the defending player's library, and any exiled spell with mana value at or below the damage dealt can be cast for free, so each big hit turns the opponent's deck against them. Equipment, +1/+1 counters (doubled by Growth Curve and Innkeeper's Talent), Mutagen tokens, trample and unblockability make the hits land, while counterspells, hexproof tricks and removal keep the path clear. How it wins: Kotis, made huge and evasive, deals heavy commander damage each turn, backed by free spells stolen from opponents' libraries and extra value from other creatures that pilfer opposing decks. Key roles: - Growing Kotis: Equipment, auras, pump spells and +1/+1 counters, including landfall and doubling effects, raise Kotis's power so it deals more damage and exiles more cards, with a higher mana value cap on free casts (Growth Curve, Innkeeper's Talent, Will of the Sultai). - Mutagen counter package: Mutagen tokens add flexible sorcery-speed counters, The Ooze replaces counters lost when a creature leaves, and Ray Fillet turns spare counters into cards (The Ooze, Mutagen Man, Living Ooze, Ray Fillet, Man Ray). - Connecting through blockers: Trample, deathtouch, unblockable effects and tapping or bouncing blockers ensure Kotis's damage reaches a player and triggers the exile (Manifold Key, Jill, Shiva's Dominant, Hunter's Axe). - Shielding the threat: Kotis's indestructibility pairs with hexproof tricks, untap effects and a dense counterspell suite that stops exile, bounce and board wipes aimed at the plan (Counterspell, Saved by the Shell, Octopus Form). - Stealing from opponents: Beyond Kotis, several creatures exile or reveal opponents' cards and cast or keep them for free, and casting spells from exile triggers The Thirteenth Doctor's Paradox counters and untaps (Krang & Shredder, Jhoira, Weatherlight Corsair, The Thirteenth Doctor). - Ramp into early pressure: Mana rocks, dorks and land search let Kotis come down early and still have mana for equip costs and protection, while lands entering feed Beorn's Hospitality (Ilysian Caryatid, Cultivate, Beorn's Hospitality).
